I was lucky enough to be live with this man. Awesome!!!!!! i loved it!!! Cheap Audio Man answered all our questions(practically). i felt like i was conversing with a friend. i subed so i get all this auto-like. i had a question? can you please best set up for computer? even a 3.5 mm reciever AND two speakers for an out of box answer.

I've had excellent service from Michell, with explicit thanks to Steve. I bought two replacement lids for my Transcriptor Hydraulic, one they replaced after it arrived broken, the second fell to bits a few months after it arrived. Since what remained of it made a perfect cover for my Akai open reel I didn't complain. Ping forward a few years and I bought a full spec Gyrodec, when it arrived there was a small problem with one of the arm mounting threads being badly tapped, I spoke to Steve about it and mentioned in passing my problems with the two lids. He turned up at my house a few days later with a new chassis, and a brand new lid for my Transcriptor which I'm happy to say works fine :). Now, about the instruction booklet, or lack thereof Steve :).

After spending a month looking for speakers, I ordered my 805's straight after watching this video _ I will feedback after they arrive

I bought the Eversolo D6 this time last year. It’s an excellent streamer/NAS device for roughly $900 plus some for adding 4GB solid state storage. Feed it FLAC files with a subscription to Tidal to drive a pair of rebuilt Carver Amazing Loudspeakers and I’m in audio heaven!

You were the first to mention that there is no Topping Tune version for MacOS. This is a major downside for people who, like me, are not willing to use Windows 10/11 just to tune a DAC. Honestly, I don't believe they will make a Mac version in the future. I am looking for a DAC to use with TIDAL through my smartphone (Galaxy S21 FE) wired or wirelessly. The SMSL SU-1 failed due to the absence of separate inputs for power and data via USB-C. I had to increase my budget, and the model that seemed most interesting was the SMSL D6S, which comes with a built-in power supply and all the connections I need... and MQA compatibility! The release of the Topping D50III made me consider this product as the main competitor to the D6S because they are in the same price range and have practically the same connections and sound characteristics. The lack of an included power supply is a downside because we know that the quality of the power supply affects the equipment's performance. Another point that matters to me is the presence of a joystick instead of a rotary knob to adjust the volume. Although I haven't made a direct comparison between the D50III and the D6S, the comments from colleagues are helping me decide, and I am seriously inclined to go with the SMSL D6S. Can I control the dac lineout volume as a preamp?

I started with a PC2000 sub and then bought a SVS Ultra center to replace the Jamo S62Cen that was not up to the task later I bought a pair of Prime bookshelfs as rear speakers but when listening to music they outperformed the Jamo S628 towers I had when paired with the sub. And when running 5.1 audio and letting the Ultra center do it's thing the high and mid where way better. So later also bought Ultra bookshelfs for from use and still love how they sound. Got a 5.2.4 setup now with the Jamo S622 as atmos speakers. They sound quite similar to the svs and are good enough for surround duty. I would like to compare the new Ultra Evo's one day but I can also see myself still using these in 10 years only upgrading my receiver from a X4400h to something better like a X8500h, Rz70, Cinema 30 or newer.

Oh yeah, there is A WAY. Especially when this little box is able to pump 100 W per channel (200 W in total) with a 96W power adapter.

So, you can get a better DAC for 231 dollars?🤔

is it too crazy to want to use the 5 Speaker Set on my deskstop pc set up?

I am using 3 Topping E50's on my disc spinners. The first 2 were $200 and the last one on sale was $159. 3 filter settings and a sample rate display. Audio Science Review loves this DAC. If it has never been measured I won't buy it.

You'll be lucky if it has more than $50 worth of parts. Measurements mean nothing, Its how it sounds. Cheap like all the rest of the cheap Dacs.

Randy i wanted to buy to hook up to computer - usb = but down the road getting ( Head- phone rig ) Which will have SEPERATES- dac - Amp - I plan on hooking them into Dac - that will then go to tower computer- so i can plug into external dac - then will it be playimg off of external dac and not built in dac. ? Do you suggest different speakers if what. ?

@Randy. Very nice and well done video! Nice to see you going back to your roots and reviewing an actually affordable item! While I did have high hopes for this, when you mentioned the Geshelli J2 and the 4493 version and how it still beats it, it does confirm my initial thoughts on DACs as based on many reviews in the past. Not only yours, but others as well. Granted, as you pointed out, the downside is that the Geshelli is only a DAC and I could see having a DAC that could also double as a pre-amp. The D50III could definitely fit that bill, however, what I am waiting for right now, is the release of the Wiim Ultra. I think that unit would cover all bases for me. I am wondering how the DAC in that compares to the Geshelli J2. This brings me to another question in regards to the J2 4499. How does the stock op amp J2 4499 sound in comparison to the J2 4493 with the Sparkos op amps?
